Operating Principle

The system operates through electrochemical reactions:

  • Electrochemical reaction: Fe→Fe²⁺+2e
  • Anodizing reaction: 2OH⁻→2[O]+2e→O₂+2e (nascent oxygen [O] provides strong oxidation)
  • Cathode reduction: 2H⁺+2e→2[H]→H₂ (nascent hydrogen breaks chemical bonds)
