Working Principle
The system operates through electrochemical reactions:
Fe → Fe²⁺ + 2e⁻
2OH⁻ → 2[O] + 2e⁻ → O₂ + 2e⁻
The nascent oxygen [O] provides strong oxidation comparable to UV, H₂O₂, and O₃ treatments.
2H⁺ + 2e⁻ → 2[H] → H₂
Nascent hydrogen breaks chemical bonds, reducing COD and chromophore functional groups. These oxidation and reduction reactions occur continuously on the electrode plates.
